The work Mask (Self-Portrait) negates the traditional understanding of the artist as a self-creating genius and at the same time counteracts the classic portrait: instead of his own head, a dust mask, a classic work tool of the artist, is presented. Only inside the mask does the impression of his mouth reveal part of his silhouette. The artist reveals himself only through his absence and takes a back seat to his work.
