ERIK ANDERSEN
INTRODUCTION TO THE ERIK ANDERSEN STUDIO
Working extensively with materials such as epoxy resin and fiberglass, Erik Andersen’s sculptures, installations and paintings often tread the line between two-dimensional and three-dimensional space. For Andersen, decision-making processes, chance encounters, and material and spatial relationships play a central role, not only in the work’s inception and production, but also in its final form. This culminates in a semi-abstract, layered yet minimalistic visual language that often incorporates elements of the human form — prompting the participation of the viewer and continuously shifting interactions between body, object, and space.
